Rotech Subsea has completed cable de-burial and post-lay trenching works at an undisclosed offshore wind farm in the British part of the North Sea.
Rotech carried out the work on multiple sections of the wind farm. The company did not reveal the name of the client but did state that it is an offshore energy market solutions leader.
The Aberdeen-based company deployed its RS2 jet trenching tool to complete the works at the end of 2020.
The jet trenching tool was also deployed for the burial work of cables in another sector of the project, carried out to client specification of 1.5 meters top of the cable. According to Rotech, the controlled flow excavation tool operated in water depths of up to 32 meters LAT.
Soil conditions in the de-burial sector were loose with the presence of clay. In the post-lay trenching areas some sections were softer than expected resulting in rapid backfill of about 0.7 meters, the company said.
