Golar LNG appoints new CEO

Liquefied natural gas shipping company Golar LNG has appointed Karl Fredrik Staubo as the new chief executive officer of the company.

After Golar LNG had informed its previous CEO Iain Ross filed his resignation on 12 April, the company launched the process to recruit the successor for the position.

Karl Fredrik Staubo is named the new CEO at the company’s board meeting held on 13 May 2021.

Since May 2020, Staubo served as CEO of Golar LNG Partners, recently sold to New Fortress Energy. He has also been acting as chief financial officer of Golar since September 2020.

Staubo has a shipping and energy background from Clarksons Platou Securities (2010-2018) and Magni Partners (2018-2020).

At the same meeting, Golar appointed Eduardo Maranhao to take over Staubo’s role as chief financial officer of Golar.

Maranhao works for Golar since 2015 in different functions including chief financial officer of Golar Power/Hygo Energy Transition until its recent sale to New Fortress Energy. Prior to joining the Golar group, he was the CEO of CELSE.

Maranhao has experience in international energy projects and infrastructure financing, having worked at different financial institutions including Lakeshore Partners, Santander, Credit Agricole, Banco Votorantim, and Citibank.
