IGI Poseidon has selected the contractors for the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) and relevant support services related to the offshore and onshore sections of the EastMed pipeline project.
ERM Italia will carry out the ESIA and implementation of activities to obtain authorization and permits for the installation of the offshore sections.
This includes the areas from southeast Peloponnese to Atherinolakkos, from Atherinolakkos to Vassiliko, and from Vassiliko to the Eastern Mediterranean gas source.
ASPROFOS Single Member Engineering is in charge of the ESIA and activities to secure authorization and permits necessary for the installation of the project’s onshore section.
The work covers the circa 550 km onshore pipeline section, starting from Florovouni in northwestern Greece to the southeast of Peloponnese including a 17 km offshore section crossing the Patras Gulf.
The Greek company is also responsible for the compressor station, to be located in Atherinolakkos, and the short onshore sections between the station and the landfall.
IGI Poseidon also appointed DNV Italy for the design appraisal of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) output for the offshore and onshore pipeline, and accompanying structures and facilities.
Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) is a 1,900 km long natural gas pipeline project to connect the gas reserves of the eastern Mediterranean to Greece.
It will have an initial capacity to transport ten billion cubic meters per year of gas to Greece and Italy and other south-east European countries.
