Subsea Integration Alliance expects soon EPCI contract confirmation from Equinor

Subsea Integration Alliance, the partnership between Subsea 7 and OneSubsea, is anticipating the final confirmation of an EPCI contract with Equinor for the Bacalhau field “in the near future” .

If confirmed, the work scope will cover the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the subsea pipelines (SURF) and production systems (SPS) for the field located offshore Brazil.

Offshore activities would take place from 2022 to 2023 at the site 185 kilometers from the coast of the state of São Paulo.

This announcement follows Equinor’s final investment decision (FID) for the Bacalhau field made earlier today.

To remind, Subsea Integration Alliance won an exclusive contract from Equinor for the front-end engineering design (FEED) study on the Bacalhau field at the beginning of last year.

The alliance will also be responsible for the subsequent life of field support. Project management and engineering will take place in Rio de Janeiro with support from Subsea 7’s Global Project Centre in UK, France and various OneSubsea offices.

The Bacalhau field is situated across two licenses, BM-S-8 and Norte de Carcará. The development will consist of 19 subsea wells tied back to a floating production, storage, and offloading unit (FPSO).

The FPSO is expected to be one of the largest in Brazil with a production capacity of 220,000 barrels per day and two million barrels in storage capacity.

Equinor is the operator of the Bacalhau field with a 40 per cent stake, while ExxonMobil and Petrogal hold 40 and 20 per cent each. Pré-sal Petróleo, a non-investor Government agency, is also a partner in the field.
