The Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC) has invited applications for collaboration grants to facilitate short-term, on site research opportunities in the United States.

The grants, in the maximum amount of $1,500, allow participation in marine energy projects underway at PMEC partner universities which include Oregon State University, the University of Washington and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

PMEC represents a consortium of universities focused on the responsible advancement of marine renewable energy by expanding scientific understanding, engaging stakeholders, and educating students.

Researchers from the above-mentioned universities work closely with marine energy technology developers, academic and national laboratory researchers, coastal community members, ocean users, federal and state regulators, and other government officials to address key challenges in the sector and accelerate its development.

Two collaboration grants will be available to graduate and undergraduate students at each university during this round, according to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The applications should be submitted by 30 June 20201, and include information on the partner university and collaboration partner, description of the research or technical project, and other information regarding the role and expected benefits for the participants.

PMEC serves as an objective voice regarding the opportunities, capabilities, and effects of marine energy, including wave, tidal, riverine, and offshore wind resources in the United States.
