Donsötank Rederi’s 2nd LNG-fueled tanker hits the water

Rederi AB Donsötank, a Swedish family-owned shipowner, has launched its second LNG-powered oil products and chemical tanker at Chinese Wuhu Shipyard Co.

Named M/T Pacifico, the ice-strengthened ship, will featuring ice class 1A, and will have shore-connection for port operations, prepared for 1000 kWh battery-pack. Wärtsilä has been contracted to deliver the main as well as the auxiliary engines.

Main particulars:

Pacifico is the second of two tankers the company ordered back in 2018 .

The first vessel from the batch, the 22,000-DWT Prospero hit the water at the yard in January this year.

The hulls of both ships have been designed by Swedish marine engineering firm FKAB. The FKAB F-Bow design is optimized to achieve maximum cargo intake and low fuel consumption.

The two plugin hybrid electrical tankers will be commercially managed by Navix Maritime Chartering and are scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2021.

Donsötank has five live vessels in its fleet and two newbuilds under construction, based on the information on its website. VesselsValue estimates that the market value of the company’s fleet is $88.06 million.
