An offshore wind farm

Ireland-based offshore engineering consultancy Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) will be providing geoscience advisory and engineering consultancy services for the Baltica 1 offshore wind project in Poland.

Under a contract with the developer PGE Baltica, GDG’s scope of work for the offshore wind farm includes ground modelling development support, survey management, and general engineering support in relation to the foundation and cable design.

The Irish engineering consultancy has already provided the preliminary ground model, geotechnical and offshore design support on the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 and 1 GW Baltica 3 projects, which PGE is now developing together with Ørsted.

The two projects were awarded contracts for difference by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office this April and are scheduled to enter operation in 2026, while 896 MW Baltica 1 is being developed with a different timeline and is planned to be put into operation after 2030.

According to GDG, development activities on the Baltica 1 project are set to be accelerated over the next year.
