Crown LNG awarded Aker FEED contract for Kakinada LNG

Crown LNG has granted Aker Solutions a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the Kakinada LNG terminal in India.

Norwegian LNG infrastructure company Crown LNG selected Norwegian engineering company Aker Solutions as the main contractor for their offshore LNG receiving terminal at Kakinada, India.

Under this deal, Aker and the key subcontractors, Siemens Energy and Wärtsilä, will first conduct the front-end engineering and design for the LNG terminal.

The contract includes an option for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) of the LNG terminal, which will be confirmed upon the final investment decision (FID) expected by the end of 2022.

Aker’ work includes technical development of the concrete foundation, topsides, and the pipeline between the offshore regassification terminal and the onshore gas grid. The topside will consist of LNG regassification facilities, supporting systems, and other supporting facilities.

Aker will coordinate the key subcontractors Siemens Energy and Wärtsilä. It will also coordinate soil surveys and construction site development.

The Kakinada LNG terminal is located approximately eleven kilometres from the shoreline, 19 kilometers northeast of Kakinada, in the province of Andhra Pradesh, in East India.

The FEED is expected to commence immediately, with delivery in 2022.
