Qatar Petroleum (QP) has awarded Spanish engineering firm Técnicas Reunidas a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for its North Field Expansion Project.

Técnicas Reunidas will act as the EPC contractor for the expansion of existing liquid products storage and loading facilities. Also, it will deal with the expansion of import facilities and other ancillary facilities and pipelines.

State-owned Qatar Petroleum announced the expansion of the North Field in 2017. This is the world’s biggest single non-associated natural gas field. To remind, QP’s LNG production expansion project also goes under the North Field East (NFE) project.

The project consists of four new LNG trains. It will start before the end of 2025, as expected by QP. Its capacity is 32 million tons per annum (mpta).
