Oil and gas company CNOOC Limited has started production from yet another oilfield project, its third this month, located in Chinese waters.
In an update on Thursday, CNOOC said that the Bozhong 26-3 oilfield expansion project has started production.
Bozhong 26-3 oilfield expansion project is located in the south of Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of about 21 meters. In addition to fully utilizing the existing processing facilities, the project has built a new unmanned wellhead platform and a power platform.
A total of 8 development wells are planned, including 5 production wells, 2 water injection wells and 1 development and appraisal well. The project is expected to reach its peak production of approximately 2,670 barrels of crude oil per day in 2021.
CNOOC Limited holds 100 per cent interest in Bozhong 26-3 oilfield expansion project and acts as the operator.
This is CNOOC’s third project to come online this month. In early August, the company started production from the Liuhua 21-2 oilfield located in the eastern South China Sea, with a water depth of about 437 meters. In addition to fully utilizing the existing processing facilities, the project has also built a set of underwater production systems, with 8 development wells planned in total.
Earlier this week, CNOOC started production from the Luda 6-2 offshore oilfield located in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of about 30 meters.
In addition to fully utilizing the existing processing facilities of Suizhong 36-1 oilfield, the project has built a new central platform. A total of 38 development wells are planned, including 29 production wells, 8 water injection wells and 1 development and appraisal well.
