New EU-Canada partnership targets ocean tech innovation

The Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE), GCE Ocean Technology (GCE OT), Subsea Monitoring Network (SMN) and Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on ocean technology innovation.

New EU-Canada partnership targets ocean tech innovation

The Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE), GCE Ocean Technology (GCE OT), Subsea Monitoring Network (SMN) and Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on ocean technology innovation .

The MoU aims to strengthen capabilities in commercializing new technologies and create opportunities for collaboration focused on innovation and growth.

The partnership brings together leading ocean technology organizations in Canada, Norway and Germany to deepen global sector expertise through the sharing of ideas for new technology creation and adoption while working alongside industry and members from each of the global organizations, COVE said.

“COVE will now be able to access worldwide supply chains, research and development, complementary infrastructure and technological advancements to propel Nova Scotia and Canada’s ocean technology sector on a global stage”, said Melanie Nadeau , CEO of COVE.

COVE, GCE OT, SMN and the Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre will collaborate to increase connections among members, identify supply chain partners, and facilitate commercial opportunities.

Additionally, the organizations plan to work together to develop new ocean technologies and ensure the sustainable use of ocean resources.

“The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s Sustainable Subsea Solutions high-performance center is pleased to bring together the organizations to strengthen international exchange to advance technologies that are focused on the sustainable use of the ocean”, said Steffen Knodt , head of Sustainable Subsea Solutions at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
