Certification and advisory company Bureau Veritas has appointed Mauricio Pereira to head up its renewable energy division for the UK market.

Pereira joins Bureau Veritas with a wealth of experience from the renewable energy sector having spent the last 10 years at DNV where he fulfilled technical, commercial and managerial roles in wind and solar project development and operations.

As head of renewable energy at Bureau Veritas, Pereira will be responsible for developing the company’s renewable energy division and supporting the power sector in accelerating the UK’s energy transition.

Pereira’s remit will include continued operational and customer service excellence by providing solutions that tackle immediate and future challenges around renewable energy development, Bureau Veritas informed.

Mauricio Pereira said: “I am delighted to be joining Bureau Veritas at such a pivotal time in the UK’s energy transition. With ambitious targets set by the government to meet a low-carbon future, it’s an exciting time to be working in renewable energy as the sector rapidly reinvents itself.

“I feel passionate about expanding on Bureau Veritas’ existing capabilities and ensuring we are present in each stage of our clients’ renewable energy journey, offering end to end services for offshore and onshore wind, solar and energy storage. Bureau Veritas is a genuine partner, and I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career and building on the company’s success to date in the renewable energy market”.

Graeme McLeish , head of power and utilities at Bureau Veritas, added: “We are delighted to welcome Mauricio to the team to drive and develop our renewable energy offering. As we strive towards net zero, renewable energy is a core commercial focus for us and we’re looking forward to working with Mauricio as we strive to lead the way in renewable energy certification and advisory services within the UK”.
