Rovco on offshore wind duty in Scotland

Rovco has commenced year two of its subsea and hydrographic campaign on the operational Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland.

Rovco’s scope of work includes inspection and surveys across the nominated subsea jackets and inter-array cable locations at the 588 MW wind farm.

The aim is to enable year-on-year tracking of asset conditions and to provide potential preventative maintenance planning insights.

The activities will be done by a combination of the DPII vessel Glomar Wave, a Work-class ROV with associated tooling spread and PanGeo’s 3D Sub-Bottom Imager.

Hydrographic survey vessel Coral Wind will be chartered locally from Moray First Marine and used in the campaign to support multibeam and scour assessment surveys.

All work is managed from Rovco’s operational base in Edinburgh.

“We are delighted to have been awarded the year 2 scope of work under the competitive framework agreement on Scotland’s largest operational offshore wind farm. Delivering the best quality on-time data insights that the Beatrice team need for their ongoing O&M planning and decision-making,” said Simon Miller , managing director of Rovco.

“Importantly, we will work with local partners and talent, alongside our own team, to once again ensure the safe and successful completion of the work on the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd.”

The Beatrice offshore wind farm was officially opened by HRH Prince Charles of Wales on 29 July 2019.

The 588 MW project delivered first power in July 2018. It comprises 84 Siemens Gamesa 7 MW turbines which were fully commissioned in May 2019.
