ExxonMobil hires PGS for 3D survey offshore Suriname

Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has secured a contract with ExxonMobil to undertake a 3D acquisition work offshore Suriname.

The vessel Ramform Tethys will commence the acquisition during Q4 2021. The seismic company plans to complete the project in Q1 2022.

“We are very pleased with this contract award by ExxonMobil. We are increasingly familiar with Caribbean waters and have proven the productivity advantage of our Ramform Titan-class acquisition platform and superior data quality provided by our multi-sensor GeoStreamer technology in this prolific exploration area”, said Rune Olav Pedersen , president and CEO of PGS.

To remind, ExxonMobil farmed into Petronas’ Block 52 offshore Suriname back in May 2020.

For PGS, this is the second contract from ExxonMobil in the past few months. In June, the company won a 4D acquisition contract from the U.S. oil major for work offshore Guayana.

Earlier this month, PGS completed a simultaneous node and streamer acquisition for Lundin Energy and partners in PL1083 in the Barents Sea, setting several acquisition records.
