Spanish company Wedge Global is designing a new wave energy converter model for the Sea-Titan project.
Wedge Global is currently conducting factory acceptance tests on the prototype and initial results are “positive meeting expectations” , the Flow Accelerator stated in its recent post.
According to the Flow Accelerator, the company has arranged a consortium to apply for a regional tender to produce and deliver an industrial scale wave energy converter based on the Sea-Titan.
The Sea-Titan project aims at making a step change in the wave energy sector by designing, building, testing and validating a crosscutting and innovative Direct Drive Power Take-Off (PTO) solution to be used with multiple types of wave energy converter.
It gathers eight companies, including Wedge, CorPower Ocean, Centipod, Hydrocap, OCEM, Columbus, Engie, EDP CNET, and three non-profit organizations with focus on applied research and development, the CIEMAT, WavEC and UNE.
The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
