Dutch cable shipping company WIND has secured a contract to transport Prysmian’s cables to Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm.

As part of the contract WIND will transport, handle, and temporary store a ±150 kilometre long array cable for the 1.5 GW project. The cables are to be temporarily stored on WIND’s cable storage yard in Eemshaven .

The scope of the work includes the provision of the equipment transport, storage and transfer as well as the provision of cable crews and overall project management.

According to the company, the project is scheduled to commence at the beginning of December this year.

To remind, Prysmian signed a contract with Vatenfall for the manufacturing and supply of the inter-array cable systems for the Hollandse Kust Zuid 3 & 4 in May last year.

Hollandse Kust Zuid comprises four offshore wind farm sites and will be the first subsidy-free offshore wind farm to be built. It will also become the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands and in the world when it enters operation in 2023.

Construction work for the 1.5 GW wind farm in the Dutch North Sea started in July 2021.

Vattenfall, who won the development rights for Hollandse Kust Zuid’s four sites in two Dutch tenders, is building the project together with its partner BASF, who recently bought a 49.5% stake in the project.
