Fugro has secured a monitoring contract by Saipem to support the construction of a liquid natural gas (LNG) jetty for BP’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field offshore Senegal and Mauritania.
Beginning in December, Fugro will deploy its InclinoCam vision technology to install more than 190 piles, working from a jack-up barge, over a period of approximately six months.
According to the company, the rapid precise positioning will provide actionable geo-data on the monopile inclination to accelerate the project schedule and a touchless solution safer than conventional monitoring.
The use of vision technology to install the piles for the jetty reduces the need for human intervention and increases project efficiency by providing real-time inclination measurements that can be taken without having to pause the piling operations, Fugro added.

The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project will produce gas from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and mid-water floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which will process the gas, removing heavier hydrocarbon components.
The gas will then be transferred to a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility at a nearshore hub located on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border. BP secured the services of Golar’s Gimmi FLNG on a 20-year deal.
