Van Oord’s VO:X Snellius, their second unmanned survey vessel, was officially launched in September.

“This vessel will help us work more efficiently and sustainably,” said Van Oord. “Previous learning experiences have allowed us to further improve the design of VO:X Snellius.”

The vessel is slightly longer emission-free and has low-noise engines.

According to Van Oord, it can also work in places that are inaccessible to normal research vessels, and the craft has an endurance of up to 8 hours.

The first VO:X Snellius’ project is located in the Averijhaven, the Netherlands, where it will collect survey data in the basin dredged by the cutter suction dredger (CSD) Biesbosch.
