Harland & Wolff, owned by InfraStrata , has secured the first contract for its Arnish facility located in the Western Isles, Scotland.
Harland & Wolff (Arnish) won a contract for the fabrication of four suction piles for a subsea template of an energy project in the Black Sea.
With Arnish now moving to full operations, it will be fabricating four suction piles, two at a 7,5-meter diameter and 20-meter length, and two at a 6-meter diameter and 12-meter length.
According to Harland & Wolff, this contract marks Arnish’s first external contract in addition to the work already being undertaken for the company’s Methil facility.
The contract begins immediately and will last for approximately four and a half months.
The company did not reveal any other details about the client, nor the project.
“I am delighted to report that Arnish is now fully operational. We have taken the time to bring the site up to operational readiness. The works conducted by the local team have garnered positive reviews by clients who have inspected and audited the yard , “ said John Wood , group CEO.
“Arnish offers something quite different compared to our other yards and, looking ahead, the specialist large rolling equipment is set to be booked for extended periods by clients given the vast array of projects that require large diameter rolling of steel.”
The execution of this new contract is said to conclude the reactivation process of all yards, which are winning work in their own right.
Harland & Wolff added that it had bid for several additional contracts which will flow through Arnish in the coming weeks and months.
To remind, at the beginning of the year, InfraStrata announced the acquisition of the assets of Scotland’s Burntisland Fabrication (BiFab) at Methil in Fife and Arnish in the Western Isles.
BiFab officially went into administration in December 2020 after a deal for jacket foundation work for the Neart Na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm at the Methil site fell through a month earlier. This came after a few years of struggle for the company which started back in 2017 .
The Methil and Arnish sites are now trading under the Harland & Wolff brand and working alongside Harland & Wolff (Belfast) and Harland & Wolff (Appledore).
