Aker Solutions, CCC team up for Jansz-lo project

Compressor Controls Corporation (CCC) has won a contract with Aker Solutions to work on the Jansz-Io Compression (J-IC) project offshore Western Australia.

The project requires highly dependable compressor control nearly 1,400 metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean.

CCC will implement its solution on the compressor control technology and engineering support for natural gas compression on the seabed.

According to the company, Aker, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for J-IC’s subsea compression system, chose CCC for its experience, engineering expertise and global support capabilities.

“We at CCC are proud to have been selected for this important project”, said Ed Maslak, the company’s president. “It will be technically challenging, but our world-class engineers will deliver while maintaining our core values of reliability, efficiency and safety “.

Apart from Aker and CCC, several other companies have secured contracts to work on the project. Namely, power and automation technology specialist ABB was selected to provide power from shore and subsea long step-out to the field.

Furthermore, Baker Hughes secured a contract to deliver a subsea compression manifold technology while MAN Energy Solutions is to provide five subsea compression units for the J-IC Project.

At the beginning of the month, Nexans landed a turnkey contract to supply and install a deep-water high voltage dynamic cable solution using cable-laying vessel Nexans Aurora .

In addition, SPIE Oil & Gas Services had been awarded a contract from Chevron Australia to provide Process Automation Systems (PAS) integration services for the subsea gas compression system for the Jansz-Io field.

The Jansz-Io gas field, located some 200 kilometers offshore the north-western coast of Western Australia, was first discovered in April 2000.

It is a part of the Chevron-operated Gorgon project, said to be one of the world’s largest natural gas developments.
