Wind energy pioneer as everyone likes to call him, Chris Westra, gives a talk described as ‘enthusiastic’ about his life in the industry, how the market had developed, and what will the future of offshore wind be in the next decades.

With 50 years of experience in wind energy, Westra recently wrote a book about the industry called “Build them at sea” and will launch it today at Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC).

“Some people think maybe it is for a few years, maybe at the end of this century we will stop with wind energy, but offshore wind energy is here to stay,” Westra believes.

“I think it has a bright future and I hope that I can live not forever, but for many years so that I can see where it will be, so we say it is better than nuclear energy, it gives us green energy and it is good for the future, good for my children and grandchildren.”
