Russian gas company Gazprom looks into the progress of the projects for the production and supply of LNG and sees the possibility to strengthen the position of Gazprom in foreign markets.
The management committee of the company looked into the information about the progress of liquefied natural gas projects. It noted that Gazprom’s work will make it possible to strengthen its position in foreign markets. The company will also address the tasks related to providing reliable LNG supplies to domestic consumers in a more flexible manner.
Moreover, Gazprom and RusGazDobycha are building the complex for processing ethane-containing gas near Ust-Luga. The complex will include a large-scale LNG production plant, with a capacity of 13 million tonnes of gas per year. It is to become the biggest such plant in northwestern Europe.

The company is working to expand the use of liquefied natural gas in transport. In addition, it signed the agreements on small-scale LNG complexes in the Amur and Volgograd Regions at St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2021.
In August 2021, Gazprom Neft finished the construction of Dmitry Mendeleev, Russia’s first liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel. Chaika SPG, the country’s first liquefied natural gas-powered river passenger ship, was built with support from Gazprom in 2020.
The Gazprom Group is also planning to expand the use of liquefied natural gas in its own railroad transport.
The issue of the progress of the projects for the production and supply of liquefied natural gas will be submitted for consideration by the Gazprom Board of Directors.
