Oil and gas company Providence Resources has completed the site survey at the K drilling location of the Barryroe field in the North Celtic Sea.
As previously reported, Providence and Lansdowne confirmed on 26 October this year that the Marine Institute’s Celtic Voyager survey vessel mobilised on 24 October to undertake a seabed, shallow geophysical and environmental baseline survey over the K area of the Barryroe field.
Located some 50 kilometres off the south coast of Ireland, the Providence-operated Barryroe field lies in the shallow water of around 100 metres. Lansdowne holds a 20 per cent interest through its subsidiary, Lansdowne Celtic Sea, while the remaining interest is held by Exola DAC, Providence’s wholly-owned subsidiary, which also commissioned the survey.
Providence Resources and Lansdowne confirmed on Thursday that the site survey over the K area of the Barryroe field had been completed.
James Menton , Executive Chairman of Providence, stated : “The Directors of Providence Resources are very satisfied with the successful completion of the Barryroe site survey. This survey is part of the Board’s strategic review of Barryroe and the results of the site survey will be interpreted and incorporated into that review.”
Providence explained that the seabed, shallow geophysical and environmental baseline survey over the K well drilling location of the Barryroe field was concluded, in accordance with an earlier authorisation under standard exploration licence 1/11 .
