Jacktel’s accommodation jack-up Haven has now started operations for TotalEnergies at the Tyra field in the North Sea offshore Denmark.
Offshore accommodation provider Jacktel is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Macro Offshore and the sole owner of Haven. Jacktel won a contract from TotalEnergies to provide the Haven unit for use on the Tyra field back in March 2021.
According to Jacktel’s update on Monday, Haven is now installed at Tyra and has started the operation offshore Denmark.
The contract is for 20 months with an option to extend beyond the fixed period. Before starting the contract, the unit was at Semco Hanøytangen yard where its old foundations were supposed to get reinstated. As a result, the modification would allow Haven to become more generic and be able to cater to the most dominant soil conditions at fields in the North Sea.
Haven is a 4-legged self-elevating accommodation unit built for the North Sea offshore harsh environment. It can accommodate up to 400 personnel. The unit previously worked for Equinor on the Johan Sverdrup field off Norway.
The TotalEnergies-operated Tyra field redevelopment is in full swing as the field in late August this year got its new topsides installed on the jacket. The lifting of topsides was followed by an installation period in September.
A consortium of Actemium Oil & Gas Commissioning and Semco Maritime will be in charge of commissioning services . McDermott is focused on construction close-out on the Tyra East G module in preparation for the onshore commissioning and the sail away planned for next year.
Progress on the five remaining platforms continues per schedule to meet the first gas date in 2Q 2023.
Once redeveloped and at peak production, the completion of the Tyra project will enable the supply of around 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, i.e. total production of 200 million barrels over the next 25 years.
