Offshore energy services provider TechnipFMC and Petronas Technology Ventures, a subsidiary of Petronas, have entered into an agreement to commercialise a unique natural gas processing membrane that reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Through the technology commercialization agreement, TechnipFMC will utilise and integrate the membrane technology licensed from Petronas as part of its production portfolio in projects worldwide, outside China.
As explained by the two companies on Thursday, the technology, which removes carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide by using wetted membranes, is 30 per cent more efficient than existing gas treatment processes and can reduce GHG emissions by significant amounts. They underlined that the membrane has potential applications in both offshore and onshore hydrocarbon production environments.

TechnipFMC this week also joined up with another company, Scottish Orbital Marine Power to accelerate the global commercialisation of tidal energy technology . Under the partnership, TechnipFMC will become a shareholder in the Scottish-based tidal energy business.
