Energy company Gasum names new CEO

The Finnish energy company Gasum has appointed Mika Wiljanen as the company’s new CEO, effective 1 March 2022.

Previously, Mika Wiljanen served as CEO of St1 since 2010. He served St1 also in other senior positions including as CEO of St1 Norge AS and St1 Finance.

In addition, he has a long track record in international senior management tasks in the energy industry. This includs time at Shell.

“Mika’s long, international career and strong track record in developing companies in different market areas convinced the Board of Directors that he is the right person to take Gasum’s strategy forward. Looking ahead, Gasum aims to respond to the growing demand for gas and biogas in industry, maritime and road transport, and to provide our customers with solutions to reduce their climate impacts,” said Elina Engman , chairperson of Gasum’s board of directors.

In September, Gasum announced that Johanna Lamminen , who has served as CEO since 2014, left her position. The board of directors has appointed Kai Laitinen as interim CEO.

”I’m really excited for the opportunity to build Gasum’s next phase together with the company’s committed and skilled people. The need for low-emission energy solutions continues to become more important and Gasum is well placed for the future,” said Wiljanen .
