Offshore drilling contractor Borr Drilling has secured more work for two of its jack-up drilling rigs, one of which is currently warm stacked.
Borr reported on Friday it has secured a contract for the premium jack-up drilling rig Norve with BW Energy for work in Gabon. The contract is expected to start in the second half of 2022 after the completion of the rig’s current contract. Namely, the rig is currently working for Vaalco offshore Gabon under a contract which is scheduled to end in April 2022.
The rig owner said that the new work with BW will cover four firm wells with an anticipated duration of 240 days plus options. The rig also previously worked for BW from April until September 2021.
Additionally, Borr has secured a binding letter of award (LOA) for the premium jack-up drilling rig Thor from an undisclosed operator in Southeast Asia. The program is expected to start in June 2022 for a duration of one year plus options. According to Borr’s fleet status report from November 2021, the 2019-built rig is currently warm stacked in Singapore.
Back in November Borr had 17 out of its 23 rigs contracted or committed amid strong demand for offshore drilling rigs, putting the company on track to fully contract its fleet by 2022. The remaining six Borr rigs without contracts were warm stacked, including Thor.
