U.S. offshore rig count moves up after two weeks of no change

The number of offshore rigs in the U.S. is slowly shaking off the moorings by inching its way to 16 units last week, according to Baker Hughes.

After being stuck at 15 units for two weeks in a row, the number of offshore rigs in the U.S. is slowly shaking off the moorings by being on the move again and inching its way to 16 units last week, according to Baker Hughes’ weekly rig count report last Friday.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: U.S. +2 to 588 rigs U.S. Rig Count is up 2 from last week at 588 with oil rigs up 1 to 481, gas up 1 to 107, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 0. U.S. Rig Count is up 228 rigs from last year’s count of 360, with oil rigs up 206 gas rigs up 23 and miscellaneous rigs down 1. The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 1 to 16, down 1 year-over-year.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: Canada +51 to 141 rigs Canada Rig Count is up 51 from last week to 141, with oil rigs up 39 to 78, gas rigs up 12 to 63. Canada Rig Count is up 24 rigs from last year’s count of 117, with oil rigs up 25, gas rigs down 1.
