Welsh marine energy company Bombora Wave Power has set out on a recruitment spree seeking several engineers and a manager to help further develop its ocean energy technology.
Bombora has opened three engineering vacancies – for structural engineer, senior electrical engineer and membrane engineer – and is also looking for a marine operations manager for all marine-based activities to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of projects.
To work as a structural engineer for Bombora, the candidate will have to have experience and be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of steel structural or civil engineering, ideally in a marine or subsea environment, the company said.
As a senior electrical engineer for Bombora, the selected candidate will be responsible for the design and delivery of the electrical elements of the mWave wave energy technology including power take-off (PTO) system.
Bombora is also looking for a membrane engineer with experience of designing elastomer products, compounds and with experience in using FEA tools in the elastomer product design and the manufacturing of large elastomer products.
This role will be vital to the successful development of the company’s ground-breaking wave energy technology, Bombora noted.
All positions are open for applications until February 18, 2022, Bombora said.
To remind, the recruitment drive follows the investment of £3.54 million from the Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), made earlier in 2022 , for the commercialization of the mWave wave energy generation technology.
Beforehand, Bombora was selected for support by the €20 million EuropeWave scheme as one of the seven wave energy projects that will share a budget of €2.4 million to streamline their technologies.
