India launches tender for 100MW floating solar project

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has opened a tender for the construction and operation of 100MW floating solar plant in eastern India’s state of Jharkhand.

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has opened a tender for the construction and operation of 100MW floating solar plant in eastern India’s state of Jharkhand.

On February 15, 2022, SECI launched an international competitive procurement process, inviting bids from the eligible companies for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the 100MW floating solar plant.

The project, to be built at Getalsud Dam in Ranchi, also entails a ten-year operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the plant.

According to SECI, it has applied for funding to the World Bank for the project, and intends to direct part of the proceeds towards financing the contracts for the floating power plant.

The deadline for the applications to the tender has been set for March 31, 2022, with detailed documentation regarding the process available at SECI’s website.

SECI, established in 2011, is a public sector enterprise under the administrative control of India’s the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

As the only public sector enterprise dedicated to solar energy sector in India, SECI plays a major role in the development of solar energy and wider renewable energy industry in the country.
