Brassavola, the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker vessel chartered by energy solutions provider Pavilion Energy to supply LNG bunkers in the Port of Singapore, has been launched.
According to the vessel’s owner Mitsui O.SK. Lines, the Brassavola is now set to undergo sea and gas trials in the coming months.
The 12,000 cubic metre vessel, which was built by marine and offshore engineering group Sembcorp Marine, will be shared with TotalEnergies Marine Fuels upon delivery.
The shipbuilder began the construction of what was described as “Singapore’s largest” LNG bunker vessel back in 2019.
The bunkering vessel operates on dual-fuel engines running on LNG or marine diesel oil and measures 112 metres in length and 22 metres in width.
It features two GTT Mark III Flex membrane tanks which are said to have lower internal pressure, temperature and boil-off rate. This translates into greater tank durability, safer fuel transfer operations and reduced cargo loss through evaporation.
The charterer of the vessel, Pavilion Energy was appointed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) as an LNG bunker supplier to vessels in the Port of Singapore in January 2016.
In August 2021, the company reached a milestone by completing the 100th truck-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at Jurong Port.
Pavilion Energy is also a part of the consortium that recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the MPA to jointly promote the development of an ammonia fuel supply base in Singapore.
