Offshore accommodation provider Floatel International has secured a contract extension with Equinor for a unit operating offshore Brazil, which will later on move to the Gulf of Mexico to work for Chevron.
Floatel informed last Friday that Equinor had extended the contract for Floatel Victory to provide Maintenance and Safety Unit (MSU) services alongside Peregrino floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) offshore Brazil until year-end 2022, with further options thereafter.
The initial, six-month firm contract was awarded by Equinor back in July 2021 with options included. The unit transited to Brazil and started the contract with Equinor in late September .
Furthermore, Floatel revealed that the Floatel Victory is the nominated vessel for the contract with Chevron to provide offshore accommodation services at the Anchor field development in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico .
The contract with Chevron was announced in June 2021. However, at the time, it was expected that Floatel Triumph would be the one to operate on the Anchor field for Chevron. The contract provided Chevron with an option to establish the base charter period for either four or five months with an expected start of accommodation services in the second or third quarter of 2023.
Now, the terms have been changed and Floatel said that the contract is expected to start in mid 2Q 2022.
Floatel Victory is a semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel designed for worldwide operation with emphasis on some of the harshest environmental conditions in the world, such as the Northern North Sea.
Built in 2013 by Keppel FELS Shipyard in Singapore, the accommodation rig is equipped with the latest Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning System, certified to DP3 class, and accommodations for 560 people.
