Australian LNG producer Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), a joint venture between ConocoPhillips, Origin Energy, and Sinopec, has appointed Khoa Dao as its chief executive officer (CEO).
Australia Pacific LNG said it has appointed Khoa Dao as CEO to take the helm of the business as it continues to play a role as a supplier of LNG and domestic gas to support the energy transition .
APLNG is one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia and a major exporter of LNG to Asia. It shipped its first LNG cargo in 2016, after nearly five years of development and construction.
The joint venture is owned by ConocoPhillips (47.5 per cent), Origin Energy (27.5 per cent), and Sinopec (25 per cent).
Dao has more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry having worked in the U.S., Vietnam, Indonesia, and Canada. Previously, he served as the president of ConocoPhillips’ Australia business unit.
“Australia Pacific LNG is playing its part to ensure Australia has a stable and secure supply of gas during the current period of unprecedented turmoil in global energy markets,” Dao said.
“We will continue to invest and develop our gas resources to fulfill our long-term gas sales commitments and offer additional volumes to the domestic market.”
“With the global energy transition underway, we also expect LNG to play an increasingly important role, as it is lower in greenhouse gas emissions intensity than other fuels.”
