Brazilian field back online after downtime ends

Brazilian oil and gas player Enauta has restarted production from a field offshore Brazil following a scheduled shutdown in preparation for the recertification of the floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which is currently working on the field.

Enauta started the Atlanta field ’s scheduled downtime at the start of July. As disclosed at the time, the downtime aimed to comply with the Ministry of Labor’s normative requirements and prepare the FPSO to be recertified by DNV (Det Norske Veritas), in regards to a two-year extension of chartering, operation & maintenance (O&M) agreements for the FPSO Petrojarl I .

Earlier this month, the Brazilian firm revealed its plans to restart production at the field in the following days with expectations for it to return to normal production by September.

In an update on Wednesday, Enauta informed that production, which had resumed at the Atlanta field, was in the process of normalisation. Located in block BS-4 in the Santos Basin , the Atlanta field has estimated reserves of 106 MMbbl.

The field is operated by Enauta Energia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, which has a 100 per cent interest in this asset. The Atlanta field has been producing since 2018 through an Early Production System (EPS), which entails three wells connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I.

After recertification, the FPSO’s contractual extension will enable it to continue operating on the field until the entry of the Full Development System (FDS), which is expected by mid-2024, originally with six wells , reaching ten wells in 2029 .

To this end, Enauta inked a purchase deal with Malaysia’s Yinson – based on the Letter of Intent (LoI) from December 2021 – for the FPSO OSX-2 , which was closed in February . Currently, the vessel is being converted at Dubai Drydocks World .

Once the conversion is completed, the vessel – named FPSO Atlanta – will be operated under ABS Class and it will be deployed at the Atlanta field.
