Normand Falnes PSV - Solstad Offshore

Norwegian shipping company Solstad Offshore has secured a new five-year contract for one of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) with TotalEnergies in the North Sea.

Solstad Offshore said on Wednesday that it has entered into a long-term contract for the PSV Normand Falnes with TotalEnergies UK.

The contract, which will be for five years firm plus options, is one of the first long-term contracts awarded in the UK North Sea for a battery-hybrid installed PSV , according to Solstad. The vessel will be utilized by TotalEnergies UK to support its UK North Sea assets and the contract will begin during November 2022.

Kenneth Lande , EVP – Head of Global AHTS & PSV Segment of Solstad Offshore, commented: “We are pleased to have entered into this long-term contract with TotalEnergies UK and especially introducing battery-hybrid solutions to the UK-market to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.”

The PSV previously worked for Wintershall Dea , supporting the West Mira rig, now known as Deepsea Mira , during operations offshore Norway. This is when it was equipped with Kongsberg batteries, which were expected to reduce emissions by around 12 per cent per year.

Solstad has also recently secured a contract for the subsea construction vessel (CSV) Normand Baltic, as well as a contract extension for CSV Normand Navigator within the renewables sector.
