Danish company Wavepiston has unveiled plans to launch a new crowdfunding campaign to support the demonstration of its wave energy technology at full scale.

The equity crowdfunding campaign will be conducted via Seedrs platform , and follows the first €2.4 million round closed in February 2021 .

Aside from crowdfunding investments, Wavepiston has also received €6 million from European funds for its demonstration projects.

“We believe that the answer to the energy crisis and climate breakdown is the water around us. We want to take full advantage of the immense power of our oceans and propel the innovation of wave energy solutions all over the world.

We have developed and tested our wave energy technology and are now ready to demonstrate it at full scale. After a very successful first round, we are now opening a second equity crowdfunding through the Seedrs platform,” Wavepistons said.

Wavepiston’s wave energy system consists of energy collectors placed in the ocean. The energy collectors produce pressurized seawater which is transported to the shore where power generation and reverse osmosis units for desalination are located.

To remind, the company is currently finalizing preparations for the offshore demonstration of wave energy -powered desalination system at the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN).
