French LNG containment specialist GTT has received an order from its partner the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for the tank design of two new LNG carriers.

GTT will design the tanks of the two vessels, and each will offer a total cargo capacity of 174,000 m3.

The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.

The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the third quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.

In December 2022, SHI ordered the tank design for seven new LNG carriers on behalf of a European and an American ship owner.

GTT finished the 2022 financial year with a record level of orders, 274 units for the core business and 70 units for the LNG as fuel business, and in 2023, it already received multiple orders for tank designs.
