Oilfield services provider Saipem and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services provider CTCI have commissioned and started up Nong Fab LNG receiving terminal in Thailand.
According to Saipem, the terminal, with a capacity of 7.5 million metric tonnes per annum, will receive LNG from carriers where it will be stored in two large cryogenic tanks of 250,000 m³ each. Then, heat energy will be used to retransform the liquid into a gaseous state, which will feed the existing external network.
To note, the company said that EPC work also includes an important administration area and buildings to support operations.
Saipem said the Nong Fab terminal (also known as the Map Ta Phut LMPT2 LNG terminal) will help to support Thailand’s growing energy demand and to sustain its economic growth and the well-being of the local communities.
The terminal is Thailand’s second and largest regasification plant and it was executed for PTT LNG company, a subsidiary of PTT.
PTT LNG awarded the EPC contract to Saipem and CTCI in 2018.
In 2022, QatarEnergy’s LNG-producing unit Qatargas delivered the first LNG cargo to the terminal.
