Oneka Technologies, a company developing wave-powered desalination solutions, has established an office at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Nova Scotia.

The move expands Oneka ’s presence in the Atlantic region and strengthens its commitment to providing innovative and sustainable desalination solutions.

With an office at COVE , Oneka will join the ocean innovation community, and this is expected to open many doors for collaboration with companies working in the ocean economy. Oneka will also leverage the resources of COVE to explore new business opportunities and partnerships in the ocean technology sector.

Melanie Nadeau , CEO of COVE, said: “We are proud to have Oneka Technologies establish an Atlantic Canada office at COVE and join our growing hub of companies propelling Canada’s ocean technology sector.

“Joining COVE’s global high-tech innovation hub builds a strong business development presence in Atlantic Canada for Oneka Technologies to advance its sustainable ocean technology.”

Dragan Tutic , founder and CEO of Oneka Technologies, added: “We are excited to establish a presence at COVE and expand our network of collaborators. This strategic move is one of many steps that Oneka is taking to take advantage of what Nova Scotia can offer to accelerate our growth.”

Oneka Technologies is developing a desalination solution that can produce fresh water using the abundant energy of waves.

In 2022, the company won the grand prize of $500,000 in the US Department of Energy-sponsored Waves to Water Prize competition for its device Oneka Snowflake, with the best-overall score out of four finalists.
