Greece’s Capital Ship Management has taken delivery of the newbuild LNG fuel-ready chemical/product medium-range (MR) tanker with an eco-friendly design, M/T Avax.

The company announced on 24 March that the 50,000 dwt vessel was delivered by Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard.

The ship is assigned with Wind-Assisted Ready and HVSC-Ready notations by ABS. The HVSC-ready notation is for vessels equipped for high voltage shore connection systems to be installed in the future, and the wind-assist ready notation is for vessels equipped for wind-assist equipment to be installed onboard.

M/T Avax is the third of six LNG fuel-ready sister ships with eco-friendly design delivered to Capital since the beginning of 2023. Alkiviadis and Agisilaos joined Capital’s fleet in January and February, respectively.

The vessels are future-proof design compliant with EEDI Phase 3 and are annotated with ABS SUSTAIN-1 (2020) which demonstrates adherence to the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). They are also Tier III compliant for reduced NOx emissions, assigned ABS ENVIRO notation, and equipped with IHM notation for safe recycling.

According to Capital, this makes them one of the most environmentally friendly, technologically advanced and efficient vessels in the global MR fleet.
