Following new COO, US oil and gas firm names CFO and Sr. Vice President

Following the recent appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer (COO), U.S. oil and gas company Amplify Energy Corp. has named a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Vice President.

Amplify Energy announced on 17 April that James (Jim) Frew has joined the company as Senior Vice President and CFO.

Prior to this, Frew was a partner at Sentinel Petroleum from March 2022 to April 2023. He previously served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Riviera Resources, from August 2018 to October 2020, and as Linn Energy’s Vice President of Marketing and Midstream from May 2014 to August 2018, and Director of Business Development, Strategy and Planning from May 2011 to May 2014.

From August 2002 to May 2011, Frew held several roles in the Natural Resources division of the J.M. Huber Corporation, after he had started his career as a management consultant at the Parthenon Group.

“I have known and respected Jim as an industry leader for a number of years, and I am excited to welcome him to the Amplify team,” said Martyn Willsher , Amplify Energy’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

“Jim’s extensive oil and gas experience and depth of financial expertise will be a great asset to our organization and will enable us to deliver additional value to our shareholders.”

To remind, Amplify Energy recently appointed Dan Furbee as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Regarding other recent activities, it is worth noting that the firm earlier this month received the required approvals from federal regulatory agencies to restart operations at the Beta field located offshore Southern California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina.

This came 18 months after a large oil spill damaged the Southern California Coastline by discharging around 25,000 gallons of crude oil into federal waters from the Elly platform’s pipeline, operated by Amplify’s wholly-owned subsidiaries – Beta Operating Co. LLC (Beta Offshore) and San Pedro Bay Pipeline Co. – off Huntington Beach.

On 12 April, it was reported that container shipping major MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company entered into a settlement agreement with the subrogated insurers of Amplify Energy related to the oil spill incident.
