Dutch Marine Energy Centre (DMEC) has opened an innovation challenge for technology developers seeking support for their offshore test campaigns.

As part of the challenge, DMEC is welcoming applications from offshore innovations working on energy production, storage, and nature-inclusive designs.

The winners will receive free of charge support on demonstration requirements, test site selection and planning, DMEC said.

The challenge , part of the Interreg North West Europe (NWE) Ocean DEMO project , is open for applications until May 31, 2023.

Ocean DEMO is a €13 million project aiming to accelerate ocean energy’s transition from single prototype to multi-device farms by providing free access to world-leading test centers.

The centers participating in the project include the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in UK, DMEC in the Netherlands, SEM-REV in France, and SmartBay in Ireland.

To remind, Ocean DEMO awarded recommendations for support to six offshore renewable energy developers to test their ocean energy products at the above mentioned test centers back in December 2021, as part of its fourth call for applications.
