Swiss shipping company Sallaum Lines has placed an order for up to six new liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs).
As informed, the company ordered four firm vessels at China Merchants (Jinling) Shipyard. The contract, which was signed on 15 June, includes the option for two more ships.
Each vessel will boast 199.9 meters in length, 37.70 meters in width, and a draught of 10.20 meters. Furthermore, they will feature 7,400 CEUs.
The PCTCs incorporate a dual-fuel LNG design developed by Deltamarin, to reduce the environmental impact. The company expects that this will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 25%. Moreover, these ships can utilize alternative marine shore power, thus reducing their carbon footprint while docked.
According to Sallaum Lines, these vessels have the potential to decrease nitrogen oxides (NOx) by more than 96%, sulfur oxides (SOx) by over 99%, and particulate matter (PM) by more than 95%. Additionally, they could achieve a reduction in greenhouse gases by 63%.
The delivery of the first of these vessels is scheduled to commence from March 2026.

Our commitment to reducing the industry’s carbon footprint remains unshakeable, and with these new vessels, we’re another step closer to realizing that vision,” Sallaum Lines highlighted.
To remind, in November last year, the firm placed an order for two LNG dual-fuel PCTCs at China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding. The ships will be fitted with single bow thrusters, and electric RoRo systems.
