Asso.subsea to install BorWin6 nearshore cable

Asso.subsea has signed a contract with Nexans for the transportation, installation and protection of the nearshore section of the BorWin6 offshore cable in Germany, with offshore work scheduled for 2025. Asso.subsea to install BorWin6 nearshore cable

Work on the BorWin kappa offshore converter station has already started at McDermott’s Jebel Ali fabrication yard in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction of the jacket foundation will start at the end of 2023 at McDermott’s yard in Batam, Indonesia.

The US-based company, in consortium with Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute and C-EPRI Electric Power Engineering (GEIRI/CEPRI), has been contracted for both the HVDC offshore converter platform and the onshore substation.
