Noble jack-up rig drops anchor prior to Harbour Energy job

Noble Corporation’s jack-up rig Noble Intrepid has arrived at the Port of Aberdeen before mobilizing for Harbour Energy’s field in the North Sea.

Port of Aberdeen announced on October 17 that it had welcomed the Noble Intrepid to Aberdeen South Harbour, where it will undergo reactivation work scopes and Semco Maritime will provide quayside services throughout its time in port.

The rig will then mobilize for a ten-month contract Harbour Energy for the provision of accommodation services at the Judy field in the UK North Sea. With a day rate of $95,000, the deal is expected to start in December 2023 and end in September 2024.

However, Harbour can extend the contract further as it has two one-month options for accommodation services at $95,000 and one three-month option for well services at $120,000. If these are exercised, the rig’s assignment with Harbour will be prolonged for five months.

Aberdeen South Harbour was officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on September 22, following a phased opening.

“We are delighted to be supporting the latest rig maintenance project for Noble Corporation following the arrival of Noble Intrepid at Port of Aberdeen South Harbour,” said Semco Maritime’s Operations Manager, Phillip MacDonald . “Incorporating local resources is a key element of our strategy, meaning that this yard stay presents another great opportunity for the city of Aberdeen and the surrounding areas.”

To remind, Noble Intrepid spent ten months at the UK’s Kishorn port after completing its drilling campaign with OMV in Norway. It was reported on October 9 that the rig left the port.

The 2014-built Noble Intrepid is of a Gusto MSC CJ70 X150 MD design. The jack-up, constructed at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore, can accommodate 150 people. Capable of working in a water depth of 492 ft, the rig’s maximum drilling depth is 40,000 ft.
