Yinson Production, a subsidiary of Kuala Lumpur-based energy infrastructure and technology company Yinson Holdings, has hosted dignitaries from Brazil, who came to visit a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, destined to work at Enauta’s field off the coast of Brazil.
At the start of December 2023, several dignitaries – Rui Costa , Chief of Staff at Civil House, Alexandre Silveira , Mines and Energy, and Silvio Costa Filho from Ports and Airports – came from Brazil to have a look at Yinson ’s FPSO Atlanta , which is currently being converted at Dubai Drydocks World . Upon completion, the vessel will be deployed at Enauta’s Atlanta field and operated under ABS Class .
“Yinson Production was honored to have received the delegates as the visit is a positive acknowledgment of the project’s significance to Brazil and the sectors involved. We look forward to the next phase of the project and the arrival of the FPSO in the Atlanta field,” said the Malaysian player.
Yinson Production explains that the delegation was guided by Enauta’s FPSO Atlanta Site Manager, Maria Eduarda Pessoa , together with FPSO Atlanta Project Manager, Scott Bendiksen , and FPSO Atlanta Operations Manager, Helene Stefanac Walther . Decio Oddone , Enauta’s CEO, commented: “The visit of the government delegation honors us very much and is a recognition of the importance of the project for the sector and for Brazil, contributing to the generation of jobs and income.”
According to Enauta, important equipment is being manufactured in Brazil and will be installed when the unit arrives in the country. The new vessel is expected to arrive at the Atlanta field in 1Q 2024 and will be part of the Atlanta Phase I development.
In July 2023, Enauta revealed Yinson’s intention to buy the FPSO Atlanta through the purchase of all the shares of AFPS, which owns the vessel. The Brazilian player inked a contract with Yinson for the conversion of the existing production unit – purchased in February 2022 – so that the FPSO could be used for the Atlanta field’s Full Development System (FDS) under the same terms as specified within the letter of intent (LoI) from December 2021 .
This FPSO is anticipated to be fully operational by mid-2024 with six production wells. With the capacity to process 50,000 barrels of oil per day, the FPSO Atlanta has the capacity for 140,000 barrels of water per day, 20 MW of power generation, and 1.6 million barrels of oil in inventory capacity.
The Atlanta field has been producing since 2018 through an Early Production System (EPS), encompassing three wells connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I . Following recent recertification , this FPSO is expected to continue operating on the field until the entry of the FDS in 2024 with six wells, reaching ten wells in 2029.
Located in block BS-4 in the Santos Basin , at a 1,500-metre water depth, the Atlanta field is operated by Enauta Energia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, which also has a 100% interest in this asset.
