Finish technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the cargo handling and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel supply systems for a new medium gas carrier (MGC) vessel being built for Turkish shipowner Pasco Gas.
The 45,000 cbm capacity vessel was ordered as an option following an earlier newbuild contract signed in February 2023. The ship will be built by South Korean Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).
The scope of supply is the same for both ships, which includes cargo handling solutions for gas carriers. HMD and Wärtsilä have cooperated on several newbuild projects.
The equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yard commencing in July 2025.

Turkish shipping company Pasco Gas owns and operates six gas carrier vessels with cumulative capacity of 148,500 cbm. The company, which was established in 2019, ordered the industry’s first state-of-the-art gas carriers from the Hyundai shipyard. This action aligns with the environmental, social, and governance policy, emphasizing the use of cleaner fuels to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint, according to the shipowner.
A few days ago, the Finnish firm revealed it was contracted to supply the cargo handling and fuel supply systems for four new 40,000 cbm gas carrier vessels. The vessels are being built at the CIMC SinoPacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in China for Norwegian shipowner Avance Gas.
