French LNG containment specialist GTT has received two orders for the tank design of two new liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs).
The first LNGC will be realized by the South Korean shipyard Hanwha Ocean, GTT said, adding that the vessel will have a total capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the NO96 GW membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
The second LNGC will be built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and will also have a total capacity of 174,000 m3. The vessel will incorporate GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system and its delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
The two vessels will be built on behalf of a Japanese shipowner, GTT noted.
Besides this order, GTT’s latest endeavour with Hanwha Ocean includes an order for the tank design of an LNGC to be built by the shipyard on behalf of an Asian shipowner.
This vessel will also have a cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the NO96 GW membrane containment system.
As for the most recent Samsung Heavy Industries-related orders, In July 2023, GTT announced work for the tank design for a total of five new LNGCs.
These vessels will each offer a total cargo capacity of between 174,000 m3 and 180,000 m3 and will be fitted with a Mark III family membrane containment system.
