Hellenic Cables Baltyk II and Baltyk III

Greece’s Hellenic Cables has signed a contract to supply inter-array cables for the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind farms in Poland.

Hellenic Cables was appointed by Seaway7 as the key subcontractor for the design, manufacturing, testing, and supply of approximately 205km 66 kV submarine inter-array cables and related accessories for the Polish offshore wind farms.

Hellenic Cables, the cables segment of Cenergy Holdings, will manufacture the submarine cables at its vertically integrated plant in Corinth, Greece. All cables required are planned to be delivered within the first half of 2026.

The company is also responsible for the design, manufacturing, transportation, and installation of export cables for the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III wind farms, together with its consortium partner Jan De Nul Group.

Developed by the joint venture of Equinor and Polenergia, Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III will each have a capacity of 720 MW and connect to the onshore grid via a total of four HVAC submarine cables with a combined length of 256 kilometers.

The electricity produced will be exported to the Polish transmission grid, operated by the Polish transmission system operator (TSO) Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A.

The wind farms extend into 122 km2 and 117 km2 areas, respectively, and are located in the southwestern Baltic Sea within Polish waters, encompassing water depths ranging from 20 to 45 meters.

The wind farms, featuring Siemens Gamesa 14 MW wind turbines , were awarded Contracts for Difference (CfDs) in May 2021 by Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (ERO).
