The Correll Group has secured a contract with Hellenic Cables for the termination and testing of inter-array cables on the wind turbine generators and offshore substation for the 704 MW Revolution Wind offshore wind farm in the US.

The Revolution Wind offshore wind farm is being developed by a joint venture of Ørsted and Eversource. The project is located approximately 15 miles (about 24 kilometers) south of the Rhode Island coast, 32 miles (approximately 51 kilometers) southeast of the Connecticut coast, and 12 miles (about 19 kilometers) southwest of Martha’s Vineyard.

Ørsted and its US partner Eversource, which is now exiting the offshore wind projects it owns together with Ørsted, received approval of the project’s Construction and Operations Plan (COP) from the US Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) in November last year.

The developers selected their preferred wind turbine model in October 2021, when they placed an order with Siemens Gamesa for 77 of its SG 11.0- 200 DD wind turbines, twelve for the South Fork Wind project, which recently delivered its first power to the national grid , and 65 for Revolution Wind.

Greek cable manufacturer Hellenic Cables, owned by Belgian Cenergy Holdings, was contracted by the joint venture to supply the inter-array cables for their South Fork Wind and Revolution Wind projects.

Once fully operational in 2025, the Revolution Wind offshore wind farm will provide 400 MW of 100% renewable energy to Rhode Island and 304 MW to Connecticut .

Upon completion, the project will power more than 350,000 homes across Rhode Island and Connecticut, said the Correll Group. Additionally, it is projected to offset approximately six million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
